A feminist manifesto with a humorous side.

Category:

What’s your solution for achieving equality between men and women? For Chloé Delaume, the secret is sorority. In other words, women and their allies working together for a common goal: moving beyond the patriarchy, which just needs a good shove to topple right over. Sorority, humour (which can be biting at times), and truthfulness, according to Delaume, are the keys to turning the page and founding a society where gender inequality is a thing of the past. In this witty and inspiring book, she outlines the current situation—with its positives and negatives—shares personal stories of her experiences with sexism, and offers tips and tricks for using sorority to bring about true and lasting change. With quips, statistics, songs, poems, and personal conviction, Delaume’s Sisters, Are You With Me? will make you angry, make you laugh, and—most of all—make you want to join her fight.

Sisters, Are You With Me? is a feminist manifesto written by French autofiction writer Chloé Delaume. She has published over 30 books in her native France, and has won several prestigious prizes, including the Prix Décembre and the Prix Médicis. She is outspoken in her feminism and particularly in her criticism of violence towards women by their domestic partners. In addition to writing novels, she has written radio plays, essays, screenplays, and song lyrics. She often presents staged readings of her work, and collaborates with artists, designers, and musicians. Sisters, Are You With Me? is the second of her books to be translated into English.
